Nigeria’s Presidency has debunked a report calculating that the United Arab Emirates has lifted the visa restriction on Nigerian travelers.

According to the false report, the resumption took effect from March 4, 2024.

Special Adviser Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga debunked the report in a post on his X handle on Tuesday.

He posted, “UAE has not resumed visa issuance to Nigerians. The document in circulation is not authorized either by the Nigerian government or the UAE.”

In October 2022, the UAE implemented a ban on citizens from approximately 20 African nations from entering its borders.

The unconfirmed report had said the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had announced the resumption of visa services for Nigerians, marking a pivotal moment in diplomatic relations between the two nations, News Point Nigeria can authoritatively report.
