Terrorism Threat: Nigerian student jailed in UK

APerth Sheriff Court in the United Kingdom has sentenced Somtochukwu Okwuoha, a Master’s student at Dundee University, Scotland, to 40 months in prison.

On Friday, the 26-year-old international energy studies student was handed the sentence after being found guilty of making terrorism threats against staff and students of the school. He will also be deported.

The student, who arrived in the United Kingdom in 2021, claimed to have a military background and the capability to make bombs and unleash a deadly virus on the city.

According to witnesses, he also claimed to have enlisted the terror group ISIS to help bomb the university and informed the school staff of his plan to target the city in a chemical attack.

Sheriff William Wood told the convict, “Your presence in the United Kingdom is not conducive to the public good, and I make a recommendation for your deportation in due course.”

Mr Okwuoha, who was said to have threatened a fellow female student who refused his advances, was informed by the Sheriff, “You were abusive towards her and tried to have her removed from her university course.”

“The university decided to suspend you from your course, and you turned your attention towards staff,” he added.PeoplesGazette
