The Embassy of the State of Qatar in Abuja has clarified the line up of events regarding the upcoming State visit of H.E. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to Qatar from 2nd-3rd March 2024 regarding the hosting of a Business and Investment Forum (BIF) on the margins of Mr. President’s visit to Qatar on 2nd March 2024.

Media Adviser to the Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Alkasim Abdulkadir said in a statement Sunday that, “In a diplomatic correspondence with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the Embassy reiterated that the Qatar Chamber of Commerce will host the event on 3rd march 2024, as proposed by the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Mr. Alkassim said the “the clarification has become necessary to clear deliberate misinformation and misrepresentations in the media on the purported cancellation of the event.”

The Nigeria’s President Office has also denied the speculation that the visit was suspended.

“It is not correct for anyone to insinuate that the Qatari authorities have snubbed the Nigerian leader over a business and investment forum which is tangential to the all-important State Visit and which President Tinubu is slated to attend as a guest,” Mr. Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga said.

The Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also debunked the rumour of a botched visit.

A statement signed Saturday by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs  Mrs Francisca K. Omayuli said: “Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms State/Official Visit by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Qatar on 2-3 March, excellent relations between Federal Republic of Nigeria and the State of Qatar.”
