Foreign Minister, Belarusian Ambassador Meet over economy, education

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Vyacheslav Bril, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, a statement from the Ministry has said.

During the meeting promising areas of mutually beneficial cooperation between Belarus and Nigeria in the field of agriculture, industry, and education, as well as mutual support within international organizations were discussed.

The parties discussed the current situation of inter-MFA interaction and also announced readiness to hold the bilateral events at the ministries’ level.

The sides agreed on specific steps regarding the formation of a legal framework for bilateral cooperation.

Last October, the Ambassador had met the Minister of Information Mr. Muhammed Idris.

During the meeting, a brief presentation of the economic potential of the Republic of Belarus was held.

The Ambassador presented promising areas of bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture and industry, education and medicine, as well as interaction within international organizations.

The Belarusian side informed about the official position on food security issues in the context of restrictions on trade in potash fertilizers, sanctions pressure, as well as communication in terms of the International Labor Organization and the UN Human Rights Council.

The Nigerian side showed the real interest in developing mutually beneficial cooperation. At the same time, the importance of disseminating reliable information about the state and prospects of interaction at the bilateral and international levels was noted.
