The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has expressed its resolve to work with the Swedish government.
The NCC Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Dr Aminu Maida, disclosed this when he received the Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency, Annika Hahn-Englund, in his office in Abuja.
Maida, who promised to leave nothing to chance to ensure that the telecommunications sector of the Nigerian economy compares favourably with its counterparts across the world,said efforts are ongoing to secure partnerships and facilitate collaboration with other countries, including Sweden, a Scandinavian country in Europe.
During the visit, Dr. Maida and the Swedish Ambassador talked about areas of the ongoing partnership between the Commission and Sweden, in particular capacity and skills development.
Maida highlighted the knowledge pillar of the strategic plan of the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, for which the sector has been strengthened through opportunities for the NCC staff sharing best practices with their Swedish colleagues.
Also, H.E. Hahn-Englund reiterated the Swedish Embassy’s unwavering commitment to further developing existing relations, adding that both Nigeria and Sweden have much to gain in their diplomatic and economic relations.
