The National Elections Commission (NEC) of Liberia has recognised the chairman of Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, for the valuable technical support provided by INEC to NEC and for the promotion of democracy in Liberia.
The occasion also marked the dedication of a workspace for staff, officiated by Professor Yakubu, at the invitation of Madam Davidetta Browne Lansanah, chairperson of Liberia’s NEC.
Madam Lansanah, in her speech, expressed gratitude for the pivotal technical support extended by INEC Nigeria and Professor Yakubu in establishing the workspace and strengthening the electoral process in Liberia. She highlighted the profound contributions made by Professor Yakubu and Nigeria’s electoral commission to sustain Liberia’s democratic journey.
Acknowledging Professor Yakubu’s role as the President of the ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commissions (ECONEC), Madam Lansanah commended his advocacy for resource-sharing among regional Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs). Leadership.
